Sony PSP Go leaked before E3 announcement

Some how Engadget got info about the Sony PSP Go. What they found was UMD-less PSP,16gb internal memory, slider, bluetooth and Memory Stick Micro slot. I'm sure we will get more info when it becomes official.

* 3.8-inch display (resolution is undisclosed)
* 43 percent lighter than the PSP-3000
* 16GB of Flash storage
* Bluetooth built-in; supports handset tethering and BT headsets
* No UMD drive
* Memory Stick Micro slot
* New Gran Turismo, Little Big Planet and new Metal Gear Solid (!) on the way
* Full PlayStation Network support (movie and TV rentals / purchases)
* Integration with PlayStation 3 (works the same as the PSP-3000 does)
* Sony views each of its products as "10-year lifecycle products," so the PSP "needs to live on."

Interead's Cool-er e-book reader is a pretender

This according to USA Today's review. The Cool-er reader is no match for the Kindle. The only thing they seemed to like was the Apple inspired color and styling. Apparently lack of wireless, higher priced ebooks, and clumsy navigation make this a pass. Throw this ebook reader into the pretender list.

Apple Tablet In 2010

Based on close sources the Apple Tablet may be released in early 2010. The source plus Piper Jaffray’s Gene Munster seem to confirm this.

Signs Pointing To A New Mobile Device. Between indications from our component contacts in Asia, recent patents (see here) relating to multi-touch sensitivity for more complex computing devices, comments from Tim Cook on the April 22nd conference call, and Apple’s acquisition of P.A. Semi along with other recent chip-related hires, it is increasingly clear that Apple is investing more in its mobile computing franchise.

Specifically, we expect this to result in a larger (7”-10”) touchscreen tablet that will launch in 1H CY10. Additionally, Apple’s consistent message that it refuses to launch a “cheap” portable netbook, and its desire to differentiate itself in a maturing market before it’s too late (similar to the timing of iPod and iPhone), plus its gradual addition of multi-touch technology to all of its core products (iPhones, iPods and Macs) leads us to conclude this product will be a touchscreen tablet (not a netbook).

No Netbook On The Horizon; Tablet A CY10 Event. We expect Apple to fill the gap between the iPod touch and the MacBook with a new tablet device (not a netbook) priced at about $500-$700. Apple will likely leverage its multi-touch patents to differentiate its product from the typical netbook. We are anticipating a new category of Apple products with an operating system more robust than the iPhone’s but optimized for multi-touch, unlike Mac OS X. The device’s OS could bear a close resemblance to Apple’s mobile OS and run App Store apps, or it could be a modified version of Mac OS X. We expect the development of such an OS to be underway currently, but its complexity, along with our conversations with a key company in the mobile space, leads us to believe it will not launch until CY10.

Apple’s Timing In Entering New Markets. Apple launched the first iPod in Oct-01, three years after the first portable MP3 player was on the market. Likewise, the iPhone debuted in Jun-07, five years after the first BlackBerry with email and mobile phone capabilities. With both products, Apple designed devices that were differentiated enough to gain significant market share despite its later entrance into the markets. We believe Apple is observing the netbook market in a similar way, and will eventually enter with a tablet, a premium mobile computing device.

SmartQ Q7 Unboxing Video review

Chippy over at UMPCPortal has posted a video review of the SmartQ Q7. Here are some observation's he made:

One or two notes before you watch the video:

* No flash support. (It’s not available on ARM-based devices yet)
* Bluetooth is not included.
* Video playback quality and performance is very poor
* Screen brightness is reasonable (not for outdoor use though)
* OS is in English
* The device is silent and there’s not even a hint of warmth
* This is not a productivity device (relatively slow compared to X86 UMPCs)
* USB keyboard worked on first attempt.

iBend - iPhone & iPod Touch Stand Review

Reviewed by K.C. Kim
$4.99 set of two
http://www.myibend.com/

I was looking for a small compact stand that I could use when traveling and when I want to watch a video clip on my 2nd Gen iPod Touch. I saw the iBend a low cost, super thin iPod Touch Stand and thought I review it.

The iBend comes in a regular envelope that you would send regular mail in. Made of vinyl it is pretty much paper thin. Two stands are included in white and black for $4.99. Would be perfect for the traveler since it's so small. The two stands are flat then you just bend it and put the iPod or iPhone in it.

Super cheap iPod stand that is still cool and functions perfectly as a movie stand for your iPhone or iPod touch. Best of all it takes virtually no space. Better than some cheap plastic stand that you see on ebay. This is by far the best stand for the money.

Different version of iPhone's based on software

The Register has exclusive news that Apple may take an Microsoft-ish approach to iPhone sales. They state iPhone models would be sold with different software bundles. So they sell an iPhone geared towards Youtube and media and another geared towards musicians. But at this points it's just a rumor and doesn't sound like Apple. Since they sell people on simplicity.

Netbooks is the fad over?

TechBlog has an article on the rise and soon to be fall of netbooks. When netbooks were first introduced they tore through popularity. There was a time that every other post on Engadget was about netbooks. But recently netbooks have been declining in sales. Could it be too many netbooks, tough economy, lower cost of full powered notebooks. Probably a little of everything. But is Netbooks going to die out? Personally I don't think so. They serve their niche and people will continue to buy them.

Dell's $299 Mini 10v (Inspiron 1011) on sale

At least in Denmark you can order the Dell's Mini 10v (Inspiron 1011). The big difference between the 10V and 10 is that it has the Diamondville-class Atom processor instead of the Z5xx Silverthorne-class processor. So there is a likely chance that the 10V has the ability to be hackintoshed like the Mini 9. Something that was very important to the sucess of the Mini 9.
