Newest Apple Nano cheaper to produce

Apple Inc.'s (AAPL) newest version of its iPod nano is the second-cheapest to produce out of the six generations of the media players.

The sixth-generation Nano costs $43.73 in materials, making it the second-cheapest nano only to the fourth-generation version, which cost $40.80 in materials, research firm iSuppli said in a statement today.

The iPod Nano keeps changing shape and now it's square and has a multi-touch touchscreen. The new Nano looks like an Apple Shuffle with a screen. The problem is the new Nano loses video playback and a camera.

The new Touch will start shipping next week.

Is this the Apple iPod Touch 3rd Generation?

A Chinese site claims these leaked photos are pictures of the 3rd generation iPod Touch. The main difference seems to be the 3 Mega Pixel camera on the back.

Looks like we may see a refresh of the iPod Touch in the near future. Using the tool BlueTool initialization script shows a iPod3,1. Since the current model is called iPod2,1. Naturally people are speculating that a new Touch is on the way.
