Flagship Apple store in Palo Alto really noisy

Looks like someone goofed when they created a Flashship Apple Store with glass ceilings the noise levels bounce off the glass without any dampening sound absorbing material.  This seems like a design flaw in this Apple Store.  Former marketing and advanced product development director at Apple, Monsieur Gassee notices this immediately when arriving at the store.  He measured the sound level using an app on his iPhone and found the sound to be 75 decibels.

New iPad 4th Gen Reviewed

Slashgear has posted up a review of the 4th generation iPad.  The iPad was blip on the announcement scale when everyone was anticipating the iPad Mini.  The review points out this is a very minimal update with chip upgrade, new connector, and better front facing camera.

The third-generation iPad arguably didn’t need refreshing; in fact, if Apple hadn’t opted to change to Lightning, it could realistically have held off changing its largest tablet until early 2013, as per its typical yearly refresh cycle. That makes for a reasonably straightforward upgrade decision if you’re a 3rd-gen iPad owner. Unless you’re desperate for Lightning – perhaps you’ve also got an iPhone 5, and want to use all the same accessories rather than buy the adapter dongle – then we’re yet to see apps that really demand the potent A6X chipset.

SlashGear reviews Nexus 4

Vincent Nguyen of Slashgear has posted a review of the highly anticipated Nexus 4.  Check out the full review HERE

Nexus devices are already appealing, being as they are at the front of the line for new Android updates, but until now there’s always been a compromise somewhere along the way. With the Nexus 4, the compromise is as small as its ever been, and the fact that it’s so very affordable makes it strongly recommended for those wanting the best of Android today.

iPad Mini launch day has small lines

The iPad Mini launched today with less fanfare than other launches.  According to multiple sources lines at retail stores for the iPad Mini and 4th Gen iPad were sparse.  This could be more people preordering the device online than waiting it out in store.  I myself received the iPad Mini by Fedex this morning at 8:30 am.  A quick visit to the local Apple Store showed a lot of activity though I did not see a lot of people walk out with devices in hand.

Siri alternative - Google Search adds voice

Google has updated it's Google Search app to include voice instructions.  I downloaded the app and clicked on the mic icon.  I preceded to say "Movie's playing"  and the app found local list of movie playing at my local theater must have location activated).  Not all searches result in the voice talking.  It sometimes just shows the Google search results without a word spoken.  Also the recognition is not perfect.  I said these three words "Engadget", "Gizmodo" and "Cnet".  The first two results were correct but Cnet searched for seen it.  The app works well but not all searches end up with the results I wanted.  This can also can be said for Siri as well so nothing is perfect.

AirBuds - The Most Comfortable Earbuds Review

When a company advertises the most comfortable earbuds I want to review it.  This is the Airbuds which is made to be earbuds for iphone.  The Airbuds have a build in mic so you can make and receive calls and then switch to listening to music.

While the price of the earbuds is less than $40, the Airbuds feel very premium in quality.  It starts with quality metal construction with memory foam inserts.  The Airbuds include 3 Pairs of Fit-All Foam Tips for maximum comfort.  The Sweat-resistant ear pieces allow you to take them to the gym while you workout.  And the tangle resistant flat cable allows you to move around without getting all tangled up.

A review will be not complete without mentioning the sound quality of the earphones.  The Airbuds deliver a clean crisp sound with a nice amount of bass.  The Airbuds pair well with the iPhone 5 as it has a built in mic that you can use to make and receive calls.  The memory foam ear tips do a good job of blocking out noise from your environment.  The Airbuds would be great for traveling especially on long flights while you have your iPhone in hand.

In this Airbuds review I am convinced I may have found the most comfortable earbuds available.  The Airbuds deliver in sound quality, build construction, and comfort.  I no longer have to take break of listening to my favorite music because my Apple earbuds irritate my ears.

Apple iPad Mini with a 7.9-inch, 1,024 x 768 display, A5 CPU and LTE for $329

Apple has announced the worst kept secret device iPad Mini. The Mini will feature a 7.9 inch 1024x768 display and A5 chip with a starting price of $329. The specs look very much like the iPad 2 in a smaller enclosure. At this price I personally would get the Nexus 7 or iPad 2 at $399. I think this is a pass and wait for the next gen version of the iPad Mini. via Apple

Special cow milk to prevent HIV?

Scientists at Melbourne University are creating a special cow milk to protect people from HIV. The scientist are working with Australian biotechnology company Immuron Ltd who vaccinated pregnant cows with an HIV protein. The first milk that those animals produced after giving birth contained HIV-disabling antibodies. Cow cannot get HIV so when HIV protein goes in their body, their bodies create HIV-disabling antibodies. In laboratory tests, the milk-derived HIV antibodies were found to bind with HIV, inhibiting it from entering human cells. via GizMag
