Hexo+ is a successful Kickstarter project that is now available for preorder. The autonomous flying camera connects with a GoPro to capture Hollywood-style aerial shots.  The drone can reach maximum speed of 70km/h and can be controlled by a few simple gestures on the smartphone.

Tesla to build Gigafactory in Nevada

Tesla Motors and the Nevada governor's office will make an announcement in Carson City, on Thursday. It is likely Nevada is the destination for Tesla's $5 billion gigafactory. Bloomberg News and CNBC are reporting that Tesla has awarded the project to Nevada. Arizona, California, New Mexico and Texas were the other bidders. The new factory will product up to 500,000 battery packs by 2020. The battery packs will like be installed in Tesla's upcoming Model 3, meant to be a cheaper alternative to the flagship Model S luxury Car and Model X SUV. via Forbes

Yerka Bike - The Bike you can't steal

Any bike owner will feel insecure when leaving their bike behind at a bike post or tree.  The bike locks aren't very secure and often times bikes are stolen.  Yerka Project is trying to protect bikes from theft.  The Yerka Bike uses it's own frame as a lock to prevent theft.  The only way to steal the bike would to break the bike.

@ATTCustomerCare sucks

@ATTCustomerCare is terrible social media manager for ATT that doesn't respond to tweets.  I tried to find out about a reward card that went missing on my account.  I asked @ATTCustomerCare and takes multiple questions and answers over hours and they tell me they will call me later.  The whole point of Twitter is to interact with people.  Why can't @ATTCustomerCare DM and help me with my answers.  Rather they want me to wait by the phone for a phone call?  Also @ATTCustomerCare didn't respond most of the time I ask a question. 

ZTE Nubia Z7 smartphone

Chinese phone maker ZTE is coming out with a new Smartphone.  The ZTE Nubia Z7 smartphone features a 5.5 inch, 2560 x 1440 pixel display, a 2.5 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor, 2GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, and a 13MP camera.

Are British Airways and Facebook taking tech and gadget development too far?

Gadget lovers across the world have been met with some interesting – and potentially shocking – headlines lately; increasing the focus on this thriving industry.

To start with, Facebook has been publicly criticised for what The Guardian has reported as a ‘breach of ethical guidelines’ after they admitted they had undertaken an investigation into the effect social media posts can have on our moods – manipulating the news feeds of more than 700,000 users to see if and how it affected them.

In a similar story, British Airways has been the highlight of a post on The Drum when discussing the testing of the brand’s latest gadget: a ‘happiness blanket’. This uses neuro-sensors to measure brainwaves and can determine when passengers feel happiest; thus allowing the airline to target their services (such as in-flight entertainment and meals) more effectively.

Although both of these stories reflect on the huge progress made in the tech industry over recent years, it has to be asked whether they have gone a little too far this time.

Privacy and security concerns

The most important thing to consider is that, for some, these developments are an invasion of privacy. Gadgets and electronics are widely reported as dominating many aspects of our daily lives and not everyone will be pleased to see them taking control of yet another area.

Additionally, while Facebook and British Airways are collecting and using this data to breed positive results, there are those who may take an alternative approach.

Knowledge is power

Facebook also divided opinions by conducting its research behind the backs of those involved. Although there are arguments that publicising the study before its completion could have skewed the results (with users looking for specific features), the truth remains that Facebook studied individuals without informed consent – thus going against most ethical guidelines.

It’s therefore only understandable that some users would react to this by questioning the actions of the firm involved.

Protecting consumers

Privacy and security are top concerns in the digital world – you need only consider the importance of software escrow for evidence of that – and this means developers are charged with safeguarding these aspects all times.

While software escrow is a simple solution to those who want to safeguard their interests and the interests of their company when using third-party software or allowing other parties to use their own software, there is currently little security measures to govern the research being undertaken by the likes of Facebook and British Airways.

Although their surveys and current focuses provide plenty of food for thought for the industry, it seems likely that great control will be needed if the public are to get on board.

The possibilities and results are undoubtedly positive … it’s just the execution which needs a little work!

Ego Electric Cordless Lanwmower

Ego's cordless electric lawnmower hits Home Depot exclusively.  The $499 Lawnmower uses a 56-Volt Lithium-ion battery for up to 45 minutes of grass cutting time.  The battery can be full recharged within 30 minutes. 

I saw this at Home Depot store and liked the cordless battery power of the Lawnmower but I would like to see this at a better price and better components(less plastic).

Innolux third manufacturer of displays for iPhone 6

Innolux has nabbed the third order for displays for the iPhone 6.  Innolux, Japan Display Corporation, and LG Display will be making the displays for the new iPhone 6.  Both Samsung and Sharp were in the running but missed out on the opportunity.  Samsung may have been snubbed for being too much of a rival to partner with.
