Haier iBiza Rhapsody discontinued
Varia Mobile the company that built the software that runs the Wifi Media player states that the iBiza Rhapsoy is no more.
Hello all,
I am very sorry to be the bearer of bad news: the current 4GB, 8GB, and 30GB ibiza Rhapsody players will be the last players in the ibiza Rhapsody line, as built and designed by Varia Mobile. We are unable to speak for Haier and any potential plans they may have for follow-on products. You’ll find that you can still enjoy the Rhapsody service on your current device, and can continue to do so for a long time. However, the current products will not receive any further software updates.
This sad decision is opening up opportunities for exciting new developments in the coming year. Expect to find wireless access to the Rhapsody service appearing on a growing number of common mobile devices in the near future.
This forum is expected to remain active through the end of the year. We cannot speak for Haier's own customer support and product information pages. Thanks for your understanding.

Next Gen iPhone and Pre to have 1Ghz Samsung chip
Samsung and Intrinsity announced the fastest low-power chip. The chip codenamed Hummingbird and is designed for Smartphones.
Samsung could drop Hummingbird into the existing S5PC100 design with few or no changes," Halfhill said in response to an e-mail query, referring to the S5PC100 processor now used in the iPhone 3GS. "Bingo! A next-gen iPhone that could run at speeds up to 1.0GHz," he said.

Computer Shopper reviews the Sony VAIO W Netbook
If you want to know how the Sony Netbook fares in the siege of Netbook it got a rating of 7.6 out 10 at ComputerShopper.com. What they liked was the crisp looking screen and touchpad. What was not so hot was the short battery life and small keyboard. Seems like a good choice besides the short battery life.

Microsoft no plans for built in blu ray drive
With Blu-Ray the only game in town, some thought Microsoft might consider having blu ray built into the Xbox 360. But Microsoft has squashed such hope.
As we have stated before, we have no plans to introduce a Blu-ray drive for Xbox 360. We have a long-standing high definition strategy that runs across gaming and premium content, and it’s a strategy that continues to pay off for us. Today, we offer the largest library of blockbuster games and offer a growing library of nearly 20,000 movies and TV episodes on Xbox LIVE Video Marketplace (more than 5,000 in HD). In addition, people have access to 12,000 films and TV episodes on Netflix Instant watch. And coming this fall, Xbox LIVE will launch digital movies with instant on 1080p HD streaming so you can experience the best video quality with no disc, no download and no delayMicrosoft statement

Devotec solar powered wireless Bluetooth speaker
Here is a Bluetooth speaker that can be used with your phone or MP3 player. It uses solar powered panel to charge the 1500mAh battery. Other features include dual 2W drivers, Bluetooth A2DP and AVRCP support, 3.5mm hard input, and 8 hours on a single charge.
NEWS 21.07.09
PIONEERING MUSIC MOBILITY WITH A GREEN CONSCIENCE
- first solar powered wireless Bluetooth speakers launch in UK -
The UK’s first solar powered wireless Bluetooth speaker launches today,
thanks to leading independent UK consumer technology company, Devotec
Industries.
The compact, portable ‘Solar Sound’ are the first portable stereo speakers
to combine integrated Bluetooth technology with solar powered battery
support – making them the must have travel accessory this summer. Whether
by the pool or sitting out in the sun with friends, the Bluetooth
connectivity allows listeners to send their music wirelessly to the
speaker via their phone or Mp3 player and enjoy the ease of remotely
sending 'commands' between the connected device and speaker, and vice
versa.
Superior sound quality is also on offer thanks to the unit’s 2 x 2W
speakers. Listeners can now enjoy significantly higher volume and quality
stereo sound, which has historically been lacking from direct mobile or
MP3 playback.
The Solar Sound is compatible with the majority of phone models, including
Nokias, Blackberries and the iPhone (with use of the iPhone 3.0 software
update). Plus, thanks to the included retractable headphone Solar Sound
cable, any Mp3 player can be connected ensuring maximum flexibility.
The environmentally inspired speakers feature an integrated 150mA solar
panel – indicated via the illuminated yellow logo when charging. This
supports the built in Lithium-Ion 1500mAh battery, giving eight hours
continuous play at medium volume or four hours at maximum volume.
Designed with travel in mind, it boasts a compact size (16.5 x 5.5 x 5.5
cm), light weight (260g/0.5lbs) and a 3.5mm retractable cable for added
connectivity; an AC-DC plug and charging cable. Furthermore, the unit’s
sleek design offers additional features including modern touch screen
remote controls, including forward, rewind and volume, in addition to a
built in microphone allowing it to be used for hands free communication
when driving.
Alex Devoto, Devotec Industries founder and MD, said: “We continuously
strive to stay one step ahead of the marketplace. We keep our eye on
consumer trends and design products to meet the growing lifestyle demands
of our customers.” Devoto added: “With the majority of the UK storing
their music on either their phone or iPod, The Solar Sound responds to
consumer demand for higher quality sound from portable music devices and
laptops, and steps away from the ‘tinny’ noise associated with direct
laptop and phone speakers.”
The unit, including a stylish protective case, is available from
www.DevotecIndustries.co.uk from today. Taking into account the recession,
Devotec Industries has ensured it continues to deliver quality and value
with Solar Sound available at £59.99, underpinning all current market
offerings.

Google Chrome OS
There was a lot of talk about a Google operating system. Well now there is one but it's only for netbooks.
Google Chrome OS is an open source, lightweight operating system that will initially be targeted at netbooks. Later this year we will open-source its code, and netbooks running Google Chrome OS will be available for consumers in the second half of 2010. Because we’re already talking to partners about the project, and we’ll soon be working with the open source community, we wanted to share our vision now so everyone understands what we are trying to achieve.
