Intro: I have been meaning to get a case for my Cingular 8525 for awhile now. And when giving a chance at reviewing the Fortte 8525 leather case I jumped on the chance. So here is my review of the Cingular 8525, HTC Hermes TyTN, JasJam Book Model case.




Installation of phone: This took abit of figuring out. First you have to take the two pieces of clear vinyl open up the slider and try to slide it through. The right side was no problem since there was a bit of space between the keyboard bottom and the LCD top. On the left side I had a bit more difficulty, as the space was very little. After a couple of tries I managed to get the clear vinyl out the other end. Then attach the plastic loops to the metal buttons on the back to keep the phone from moving. Design: I am a big fan of Book Type cases and the Fortte 8525 case is no exception. With quality black leather with black stitching this is one of the better looking cases out there for the 8525. The Fortte logo on the front of the case also adds a bit of class to it all.

Function: What’s great about this case is you can use all the functions of the phone inside the case. There is a cutout on the back of phone so you can use the camera, the qwerty keyboard slider still works and all the buttons and access controls are still useable while the phone is inside the case. Also there is room for an expansion card, credit card, and ID card.


Conclusion: Overall a very nice looking case that should provide a good amount of protection. If you want to use all the functions of the Cingular 8525 while still inside the case and want style and durability then the Fortte Cingular 8525, HTC Hermes TyTN, JasJam Book Model Leather Case might be right for.

Intro: I have been looking for an alternate method of input other than the good old stylus. While I was surfing the net I came upon the website TrueTip which sell the innovative product “Finger Stylus”. An interesting stylus that fits on your finger. This is pure genius as I use my finger more often than not to navigate my touch screen PDAs, UMPCs, and Smartphones.




Design: Truetip stylus is made of hard plastic with a plastic tip (Soft tips available sold separately) and comes in a variety of colors. Initially the finger stylus was too large for my finger but after I attach the snugger foam insert to the finger stylus it fits perfect and very comfortable. The pen cap as the name tells is a simple cap for a regular pen with a stylus plastic tip.




Function: The first thing I thought of using the finger stylus was with my Asus R2H UMPC. It just make sense to pair the Truetip Finger Stylus with a UMPC as they were meant for finger typing with the virtual dial keys touchscreen keyboard. This worked out quite well and infact was a better experience than using the stock stylus. Next I tried the styluses on my Pocket PC Phone (Cingular 8525). I really like the feel of a full size stylus that the Pen Cap Stylus offers. The stock stylus that came with the phone is kinda small and the Pen Cap Stylus feels like your just writing with a normal pen. I was also impressed with how accurate these styluses were.



Conclusion: At just 10 bucks the TrueTip Stylus Starter Kit offers a nice value and versatility as you can use the stylus with a wide variety of touch screen electronics. After using the Truetip Finger and Pen cap styluses for just one week I have to say that I may never go back to using stock styluses again!

Design: The front is a beautiful mirror chrome reflective finish. It looks like a pocket size mirror until you turn on your Ipod. Then the bright Ipod screen appears from underneath. Very cool and a definite attention getter. The back is made of black rubberized material. It adds a nice grip as well as being less prone to scratching.

Function: The case opens using a quarter to twist it open. This is both good and bad. It is a tad tough to open and closed. But once the Ipod is inside it feels very secure and won’t pop open like other cases. The materials used feel like quality and very durable. And the black rubberized back provides a good grip.


Conclusion: The reflect case is by far the best-looking Ipod case available. Guys will love the chrome finish and girls will love the mirror reflect magic. It is really a case that appeals to everyone. If I had to pick just one case to protect my Ipod Video of all the Ipod cases available I would have to take the Griffin Technology’s reflect case.

Intro: The Brando Nano Size Digital Audio Player is obviously influenced by the Apple Nano but what mp3 player company hasn't tried copying Apple on design.

Design: No doubt the Brando Nano Size Digital Audio is almost identical to the Nano. The only difference would be the scroll wheel is not touch sensitive rather it is individual buttons.

MOVIE: With a 1.5" screen I do not expect anyone to watch a full movie on this player. It would maybe be good at short clips and animated shorts. Also it only plays files in AMV format so not too good of quality.

MUSIC: The audio is pretty decent for the money. But can't compare to some of the name brand players out their. Also make sure to get a decent pair of earphones as the ones included are pretty poor.

FM RADIO: This feature I would expect to be used most after audio playback. And actually offers good reception.

GAMES: Three games are including with the player: BoxMan, Bricks and Color Bead. Pretty basic games that can past the time in a pinch.

TEXT: Again a nice addition but not sure how many people would want to read a novel on such as small device.

PICTURE: Pictures look ok on the player but again limitations to the size of screen make it not worthwhile.

Record: The player can also be used a voice recorder captured at a 32kbps rate. Not too good.

Phone Book: Honestly I have my phone numbers on my cell so I don't really need this feature. But could be useful in certain situations.


Conclusion: The Brando Nano Size Digital Audio Player is a good value and would make a nice second player for someone. As well as being a nice gift to a son or daughter who you don't want handling an expensive $200-$300 player.

Intro - Ever since I first heard about the Maxian M800. I put this PMP on the top of the list for must haves. Unfortunately the player was unavailable at the time and very scarce even through gray market importers. The player retails for around 400,000 Korean Won, or about $416. But is sold at higher price at many other countries upward of $500-$700. And is worth every penny of that amount.

I had all but given up on getting the Maxian M800 until I found one company Latte Communications, Inc. who at some point in the future will launch the product in the U.S. I managed to get a review unit and here I will review the Korean PMP player “Maxian M800 30GB Black”



In the box – Maxian M800, leather case, AC Adapter, Manual, wriststrap, a/v cables, remote w/ batteries, manual, usb host cable, usb cable, and earphones. Pretty much Maxian threw everything you need into the box. This is great as buying accessories separately can cost quite a lot of money. The leather case is quite nice and better than the average one that comes with other pmp’s.











Design – Maxian M800 may in fact be the best-looking PMP I have seen. With a huge 4.3-inch 480x272 LCD made by Sharp, slim 17mm form factor, and metal etched d-pad and buttons. The design bares a resemblance to a PSP crossed with a Razr keypad.

Functions – Maxian M800 can play videos, music, view pictures, read text, voice and video record. Something’s missing were lack of fm radio and no games even though the layout would be perfect for this function.

Firmware – Firmware is upgradeable and updates can be found at Maxian’s official site http://www.maxian.com/eng/cs_center/cs_pds_list.asp



GUI – Navigation is very simple with the D-Pad and large icons that anyone can see. The interface is nice and bright.


Movie – The Maxian M800 can play quite a few different formats out of the box such as MPEG-1, MPEG-2, DivX3.1/4.xx/5.xx, XviD,
ISO MPEG-4 SP, WMV9 (640 x 282), H.264 (CIF). In testing 5 out the 6 files playback without a hitch. One AVI for whatever reason would not play. Converting the file using PocketDivx did the trick. Overall a good experience with the large screen, built in speakers, and smooth playback.


Music – Music was quite good especially with its Burr Brown High-End Audio codec.

Pictures – Pictures viewing was excellent with the Maxian M800. You can enlarge the image to fit the full screen, view images in a sideshow, and zoom in on an image 1x, 2x , and 4x.


Text – With the large 4.3” display and the d-pad for scrolling. The Maxian M800 becomes a nice ebook reader on the go. I downloaded Frankenstein by Mary Shelley off Project Gutenberg and text size was good and quite readable.

Additional features - Voice Recording, Video Recording, Audio Recording, TV out.

Games – For a PMP that would be excellent for gaming the M800 lacks any games at all.
