Scientists at Melbourne University are creating a special cow milk to protect people from HIV. The scientist are working with Australian biotechnology company Immuron Ltd who vaccinated pregnant cows with an HIV protein. The first milk that those animals produced after giving birth contained HIV-disabling antibodies. Cow cannot get HIV so when HIV protein goes in their body, their bodies create HIV-disabling antibodies.
In laboratory tests, the milk-derived HIV antibodies were found to bind with HIV, inhibiting it from entering human cells.
