The VX747 is the first touch screen interactive player to use the new JZ4732 chipset, like other similar players, this can play unconverted videos that are in a high resolution state at 30fps. First MP3 player turns 10 years old

The first MP3 player turns 10 years old this month and it's not iPod, Zune or even Rio. The first MP3 player Korea's Saehan Information Systems in March of 1988. Called the MPMan F10, the player had only 32mb of onboard memory. It measured 91 x 70 x 165.5mm. It connected to an old-style parallel port on the host PC from which songs could be copied to the player. There was a tiny LCD on the front to give an indication as to what you were listening to.

The F10 debut at eBIT show in Hannover, Germany. The device sold for $250 but was later dropped to $200 when the Rio PMP300 came out.

HD VMD enters the Format War

Is the format war over since HD-DVD got it's knock out punch. In a way yes but in a way no. HD-VMD is set to launch their cheaper players using red lasers instead of more expensive blue lasers. This will allow them to sell their players at around HD $199 compared to the Blu-Ray units that costs around $300. The HD-VMD group led by Michael Jay Solomon only has a few indie distributers signed up. And for this format to really take off they need the support of major distributers. So alot of things must go their way for this format to actually create a blimp on the radar that is the Blu-Ray.

Unconfirmed reports Meizu booth shutdown because of Sisvel

It seemed weird that Meizu would be shutdown because of cloning the iPhone. And now reports are that the real reason the Meizu booth was shutdown is because of an issue with Sisvel over the MP3 codec license. This isn't the first time that Sisvel went against Meizu. Sisvel blocked Meizu from selling the original Meizu M6 outside of China because of it. Meizu eventually found Dane-Elec who took responsibility over any licensing fees.

Sandisk also has had a run in with Sisvel, having their booth shutdown at IFA.

Breaking News Meizu CeBIT booth shut down by German authorities

In breaking news by Engadget, Meizu booth at Cebit was shut down by Hanover police. According to the report the booth was shut down because of piracy. The booth is now vacated and cops proceeded to confiscate equipment and literature associated with the Meizu M8 miniOne.

Meizu M8 vs iPhone comparison shots

Engadget got hands on with the M8 at Cebit. The prototype is definately not ready as it is just 3 images on the screen. The release date should be in August. Engadget has posted some comparison pics between the iPhone and M8. And they do look lovely.

Meizu miniOne M8 at Cebit

Engadget got hands on with the Meizu M8. Unfornately it's only a early prototype that shows 3 live shots on the screen. Definately not ready for primetime.

Onda VX767 supports TV out

Boy is Onda churning out MP4 players. They just released the VX747 then announced the VX757. And now comes the next player the Onda VX767. Not to much details on this one. Other than it will support tv output to the big screen. Support a resolution of 480x272 16:9 widescreen display, no conversion support of RM / RMVB / AVI / WMV / FLV video formats. Expect to be released on or around May 1st.

Engadget got a hands on demo of the new Asus EEE 9-inch subnotebook. The main difference seems to be the screen to frame ratio is much better. Other than that it should be very similar to the 7-inch notebook but with more space 12gb. Expect to be release of the middle of 2008.
